MULTIFUNCTIONAL

ABNORMAL TRANSPORT IS A BROAD CONCEPT . EACH COMPANY IN THE TRANSPORT BRANCH HAS DEVELOPED THEIR OWN SPECIALITY FOR WHICH NOOTEBOOM CAN DELIVER TRAILERS THAT ARE SUITABLE TO TRANSPORT LOADS OF 20 TONNES TO JUST OVER 150 TONNES .
Some transport companies decide to concentrate on one specific segment within the abnormal transport sector , while other transport operators want to offer as wide a range of services as possible within this market . The fleet of these transport operators will include vehicles that are multifunctional , such as the Megatrailer . This enables them to transport loads up to 40 tonnes , sometimes within the legally permitted dimensions and weights , sometimes with an exemption for wide , long or heavy loads . It is for them that Nooteboom has developed the Megatrailer . With its low , flat load floor the Nooteboom Megatrailer is the multifunctional solution for ‘ light ’ abnormal transport .
TWO VERSIONS The Megatrailer is available in two versions . The first is the OSD-MEGA . This 3-axle flatbed semi-trailer is single extendible and the rearmost axle is self-tracking . Due to the chosen axle distance and self-tracking rear axle it is possible for the OSD-MEGA to stay within the German § 70 exemption regulations . The second version is the hydraulically steered MCO-MEGA . This 3-axle semi-trailer with flatbed load floor is available in a single or double extendible version with a maximum floor length of up to 29 metres . The hydraulic steering means the MCO-MEGA is even more manoeuvrable than the OSD-MEGA .
LOW DEAD WEIGHT The unique central box-section main beam made of high-grade steel guarantees great torsional stiffness and strength of the chassis and a low dead weight . The finish and conservation are top-quality ; the chassis is always fully galvanised by means of hot zinc spraying . The low dead weight makes it possible in many cases to carry out the transport without needing an exemption . The result : lower costs and more flexibility as regards routes and driving times .
ADVANTAGES The design of the Nooteboom Megatrailers is based on the successful semi low-loaders from the SMART programme . The floor , the cross beams and the side raves are suitable for the transport of machinery where all of the weight is supported by the side raves .
